The music industry, both at a global and domestic level, is experiencing extraordinary transformation. Factors such as globalization, mergers and acquisitions, competition from traditionally non-music companies, and technological innovation are forcing companies to re-think and re-align their business strategies.

In this new environment companies are required – amongst other things – to create new revenue streams, tap into new markets, increase market share and cut down operational costs. Further, they are expected to cater to the ever-changing expectations and requirements of consumers who are increasingly better informed about their choices and are more demanding. This requires a constant attention to business strategies on the part of all members of the music industry, who must seek to build defendable competitive advantages.

This is where Moshito steps in. As the premier music conference and exhibition in Africa, the annual event makes its focus “the business of music”. Its programme is drawn up to provide credible business intelligence on pressing international and national issues, allowing members of the South African music industry to make informed business decisions.

Moshito is calling for experts in their fields to participate as part of the programme in the 7th Annual Moshito Conference & Exhibition, themed The Business of Music.

The pillars of discussion at this year’s conference are:

  • Technology
  • New Markets
  • Live Music
  • Industry Challenges (e.g. Piracy)
  • Socio-Economic Development

Papers should be submitted to info@moshito.co.za

In addition Moshito is also calling out for artists to submit their CDs for entry into the basket for the Moshito 2010 Showcase. All CDs should be delivered or posted to the Moshito office:
